There are so many sights and experiences in Israel to explore. From some of the oldest historical treasures in the world to rappelling or diving in the Red Sea, there is something for everyone!
Beginning with historical religious sites of Old Jerusalem; The Western Wall (The Kotel), Tunnels under the Wall, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Dome of the Rock on Temple Mount and more are all within the walls of Old City. While in the Old City, wander through the markets (shouk) for unbeatable shopping bargains.
The newer city of Jerusalem offers the Israel Museum where the Shrine of the Book houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, Yad Vashem, the famous museum dedicated to Holocaust memory, the Chagall Windows, and the Knesset among the many sites. Stroll through Montefore Park one of Jerusalem first settlements outside of the Old City. The walk to the Medrahov (Ben Yehuda Street), the outdoor pedestrian mall for shopping and outdoor cafes.
Tel Aviv is a city that never sleeps much like New York. This is the cultural and economic center of Israel. With 20 museums, home to the Israel Philharmonic, dozens of nightclubs, outdoor cafes and other entertainment will keep you busy at night. During the day enjoy one of the best beaches Israel has to offer and swim the calm warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Don’t forget to visit the many art galleries, and the historical sites such as Ben Gurion’s house, or the Botanical Gardens near the University of Tel Aviv.
Haifa to the north is the country’s largest seaport third largest city in Israel. One of the major attractions in the city is the Ba’hai Shrine and Gardens. From Haifa take a short ride to Rosh Ha Nikra, the top of the country, sharing the border with Lebanon. There take a cable car down to the famous grottos.
South of Jerusalem is the Dead Sea, the lowest point in the world. Take a sunrise hike up to the ancient fortress of Masada where the Jewish people revolted against the Roman Empire. Visit the area of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Then take a dip in the Dead Sea where you can float on the water and bathe in the medicinal mud. You may even want to spend the night and take advantage of the world class spas of the Dead Sea.
Farther to the south is Eilat resting on the Red Sea. This world class resort offers the finest vacations. Resorts with meandering pools, first class dining and watersports are at your fingertips. The Red Sea is a paradise for divers and snorklers alike thanks to the coral reefs. Visit the underwater observatory and the Dolphin Reef while you are there.
Other areas of culture and history are Caesarea, Akko, Sefat and Beer Sheeva, and Tiberias to name a few. All of these areas offer cultural and religious interests to all.
Nature lovers will enjoy the many reserves and natural areas in Israel. Sports enthusiasts can take their pick of hiking, biking, climbing, rappelling and kayaking.
