Your honeymoon is the most special travel event you will have together as a bride and groom.
Every new couple looks forward to this first time alone as husband and wife to create special memories to hold for many years to come. Therefore, each honeymoon must be chosen with the desires of the new couple in mind. The new couple must ask themselves what will make their perfect honeymoon. As a new couple will you chose to share relaxing beach and pool days with quiet meals in the evening, or experience travel, sightseeing and new cultural opportunities? Maybe a little of both. There is no right or wrong answer. This depends on the personality of the couple.
Honeymoon planning is happening at a very exciting time when other wedding decisions are being made as well. Here are some hints to make your selection easier.
Decision Helpers (questions to ask yourselves):
1. Is there a special place we have always talked about when discussing honeymoon travel?
2. Do we want to honeymoon in an island resort, sightsee in another country or take a cruise to several ports?
3. Are there places either has already experienced and would like to experience again with their new significant other?
4. How long to we have to honeymoon?
5. What is our realistic honeymoon travel budget?
Many times couples read or hear about great travel experiences; sometimes destinations sound great, but may not fit into the parameters of your honeymoon planning. Some destinations might only appeal to only the bride or the groom. Relatives and friends will always have their input about your honeymoon. Some of the information may be helpful, but no two honeymoons are alike and all depend upon your personal desires. Some couples choose a restful, relaxing honeymoon as they have been busy and sometimes stressed while planning their wedding. Other couples choose to forgo the beaches and see sights of interesting places with romantic interludes as well. Of course, some couples want the best of both worlds, relaxing beaches, and different sights each day, therefore choosing to cruise. At times either the new bride or groom has had a wonderful travel experience and would like to share that with their new partner. This must be carefully considered, because that wonderful experience may not be what the spouse would like share or may want to have a special experience new to both.
The time you have to spend on your honeymoon is important to your planning. While some exotic places sound perfect, the travel distance may not be sensible. If you only have 7 days to travel you don’t want to spend two days traveling and also deal with time zone changes causing drastic jet lag. This can definitely put a damper on your honeymoon experience. As you decide what you want for your honeymoon, your budget is important. Sometimes our dreams are more luxurious than the budget can bear. This is the time when reality sets in and honeymoon desires must be weighed. Determine what the most important factors of your honeymoon are. Take a look at some of the examples below:
- A beautiful beach, great resort area, but no private hammocks or plunge pools, or no beach or distance to beach with plunge pools and hammocks
- A beach front suite or bungalow in a low to midrange resort or a lower category room in the best beach resort a destination can offer
- Lower grade hotels and more excursions if choosing a travel-active honeymoon
- Trying to get the best experience by doing a bit less instead of cramming too much activity in the time you have
- When cruising choosing a cruise do you want the better cruise line with a lower cabin category or a less expensive cruise line with a top category
